For the 2022 BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival the waters off the British Virgin Islands will be filled again with competitors from across the globe coming to the warm waters. The sheer natural beauty of the islands, the pristine crystal waters and consistent trade winds makes this a very special place to race and is one of the Caribbean’s best annual race events.
This week long festival will take you all around the beautiful British Virgin Islands and we will be taking part in both the two day Sailing Festival and the three days of the Regatta itself. Between the Festival and the Regatta will be a lay day to give you the opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings.
This is a great experience that keeps bringing the same faces back each year, proving just how popular it is with the sailing community.
The BVI Spring Regatta follows straight after the St Thomas International Regatta.
We will be based at a marina on the island of Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
The nearest airport is the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport which is about a 35 minute drive from Nanny Cay Marina. Transport to and from the airport is not covered in your race fee.
Arrival in Tortola and welcome onboard at Nanny Cay Marina, located in Tortola. Meet your skipper and crew, followed by a safety brief and the regatta programme. You will spend the day getting to know your crew, followed by provisioning, getting the boat ready for the regatta and training to bind the team into a race crew.
The first race day will start with the Round the Island of Tortola race for the Nanny Cay Cup, a full day of sailing around 35nm of the main island of the BVI’s followed by awards at the Regatta Village.
The second race is the Scrub Island Invitational, an exciting morning race towards the northern end of the islands with a fantastic beach BBQ, pool and live music party hosted at Scrub Island Resort and Marina.
On Thursday after a brief check for any issues or required maintenance, you will have a chance to explore the islands, work on the boat practice or just relax on the beach. Live music and a Welcome Party kicks off the 2021 BVI Spring Regatta in style.
Three days of top racing around the rocks and islands of the BVI’s, followed by nightly entertainment with dancing on the beach and food vendors, who will feature both local and international cuisine. The last day will be finished with the prize giving ceremony and the final party.
