Tour Details

We offer a number of different offshore Mile Building trips for those who want to take their sailing to the next level or build miles towards qualifications. Mile builders are the best way to develop your skills in the most cost-effective way. Our European Mile Builders take you away from the coast of the UK and offer blue water sailing experiences. Those who join our trips tell us they leave feeling more confident to skipper longer more adventurous passages.

We have a number of different legs to cater to a range of availabilities, our goal is to ensure everyone on board has an enjoyable time and leaves being a little more skilled.

We ensure there is always a professional instructor onboard to answer questions and give guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Full FAQ PagePlease see our full FAQ page or email us directly if you have additional questions.
  • Do we stop for sightseeing? No, we don't make stops specifically for sightseeing during the journey. However, if you arrive early at your destination, we strongly encourage taking an extra day or two to explore the local area. It’s a wonderful opportunity to soak in the sights on your own or even join up with friends you’ve made during the trip!
  • Who will I share a cabin with?We like to spread everyone out so there are different genders on different watches. This would affect sleeping arrangements, but our skippers will always have a conversation with you regarding your comfortability. If you have booked with a friend or partner and prefer to share a cabin, we can usually accommodate this. Hot bunking may be necessary depending on the number of individuals signed up for a trip. The later legs tend to be very full with 10 individuals on board.

Bay of Biscay Crossing

Please consider joining our Bay of Biscay Crossing if you’d like to join the boat in the UK and continue on to the legs below.

Leg 1 - 20th-26th Sept 2024Spain to Gibraltar

The first leg leaves A Coruña and takes the boat along the Portuguese coast to Gibraltar.

There is a large chance we will be using Alcaidesa Marina in Spain upon arrival. It is about a 15min walk from the Gibraltar airport. Please ensure you have checked the proper entry requirements for both Gibraltar and Spain.

Leg 2 - 27th Sept-8th Oct 2024Gibraltar to Malta

One of our longer sails, this is an excellent way to gain miles in a short period of time.

There is a large chance we will be using Alcaidesa Marina in Spain for this leg. It is about a 15min walk from the Gibraltar airport. Please ensure you have checked the proper entry requirements for both Gibraltar and Spain.

Leg 3 - 26th Oct-4th Nov 2025 Malta to Gibraltar

This is a challenging leg that takes you along the North African Coast, you’ll most likely experience all kinds of sailing conditions from being becalmed to strong winds and big seas.

Although it is not a planned stop, due to weather conditions the crew needed to stop in Algeria last year. Without anyone having a visa, the crew were not allowed to leave a small area of the marina. They made the most out of the situation, ordering pizza and playing touch rugby! This year, we will have either the skipper or an apprentice on board with a visa so they can make any supply runs necessary. It is not necessary for crew members to get this visa, but worth looking into.

There is a large chance we will be using Alcaidesa Marina in Spain upon arrival. It is about a 15min walk from the Gibraltar airport. Please ensure you have checked the proper entry requirements for both Gibraltar and Spain.

Leg 4 -5th-11th Nov 2025Gibraltar to Las Palmas

Our most popular leg, this normally downwind sail gives you champagne sailing conditions and a perfect way to get to the ARC start line.

There is a large chance we will be using Alcaidesa Marina in Spain for this leg. It is about a 15min walk from the Gibraltar airport. Please ensure you have checked the proper entry requirements for both Gibraltar and Spain.
