In April, the island of St. Barthélemy will be hosting their young, but incredibly successful regatta again. Beginning in 2010, this stunningly beautiful island will be celebrating the 13th edition of Les Voiles de St. Barth. And with its perfect sailing conditions for competitive racing, fine dining and incredible beaches, this is not one to miss.
High performance boats with crews made up of some of the best international sailors will be returning to the turquoise waters around St. Barths for five days of challenging, yet diverse race courses. Expect to be a part of close battles in all classes, in every race, with suspense right up to the finishing line.
There is a choice of 26 possible courses ranging from 17 to 60 miles, with the decision of which course to race being dependent on the weather. The plan is two races a day, without starting too early or finishing too late, reflecting the laid back atmosphere of the island.
Afterwards, there’s a schedule of special events and evening concerts for the sailors as well as the local population. The Port of Gustavia will be the hub of the fun and festivities with a central Race Village catering for the competitors. There is also the signature Lay Day in the middle of the regatta spent at the famous Nikki Beach where you can soak up the Classic French lifestyle in the middle of the Caribbean.
All of these elements come together to create this ‘must-do’ event which makes up Les Voiles de Saint-Barth.
