I’m Matteo, 54, originally from Italy. I’ve been living in London for about 11 years with my wife and our two daughters (15 and 19).
I worked in media and advertising for most of my career, but I’m currently taking a break, which finally gives me the chance to join the ARC, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
I’ve been sailing since I was a teenager. I started out on 420s and Darts back in the day, and over time shifted more into cruising, which is what I mostly do now. I’ve got an Italian offshore sailing license, and I share a 38-foot boat with my brother, we keep it in Spain.
Really looking forward to meeting everyone and crossing the Atlantic together!
Matteo

I grew up in northern Germany, where the Dutch border meets the North Sea. Although water has always been around, I only started yacht sailing around five years ago when I moved to Belgium. Since then, I have spent quite a bit of time on boats, trips took me to Holland, Italy and Greece. On shore, I have lived in different European capitals and just quit my job as Government Advisor in Brussels – so I’ve got all the time and mind in the world to enjoy this marvelous trip! Looking forward to meet everyone!
Brought up on a farm, backpacked the world for three years and later ended up working within the IT industry. My main sailing experience is from sailing an X-372 and an Albin Nova based out of northern Sweden and Stockholm during the 1990s and 2000s. Participated in lots of races (2 hours to 72 hours) during those years. Crossed Bay of Biscay on a Bavaria 42 from Brest to Faro mid-2000s.
This summer I had the fortune to sail both a Diva 35 and First 35. Looking forward to meeting you all. This will be fun.
Hi, I’m Eloi from Barcelona. I’m 30 years old and currently working in fintech. Crossing the Atlantic has been on my bucket list for a long time, and now I finally have the time and resources to make it happen. I’m excited to live this adventure to the fullest.
I’ve been a sailing enthusiast since my father introduced me to it when I was 7–8 years old. I started with windsurfing, then moved on to dinghies like the Optimist. At 18, I joined a TP52 crew and took part in all the major coastal regattas in my area, including the Copa del Rey in Palma de Mallorca. I’ve also been a sailing instructor of the Catalan patín (a very special boat with no rudder!) and worked as a certified race officer in international regattas such as Europe, 49er and 420 world cups. On top of that, I’ve joined amateur races in windsurfing and trimarans among others. Nowadays, I usually sail J80s, windsurf and enjoy the Catalan patín.
Outside sailing, I love skiing in winter (recently tried ski touring and loved it) and hiking in the mountains. I also enjoy movies and series. I’m looking forward to spending time together on this crossing, whether it’s watches at night, sharing meals, or creating great memories on board. I’d describe myself as calm and easy-going, someone who enjoys taking time but can also be meticulous when circumstances require it. I’m eager to meet you all soon!
Hi, my name is Lorenz. I’m 24 years old, live in Germany and am about to start my master’s in Physics.
Boats fascinated me from a young age. I started sailing oppies and later other dinghy boats when I was 8 (and still attend two race weekends every year).
About nine years ago, I had the opportunity to participate in a two-week sailing trip in the North Sea.
Over the past years, this experience led me to the realization that I find long-distance sailing from A to B far more fascinating, fulfilling and fun than doing circles on a gently moving river or lake. So i made the decision to try and gain some trans ocean sailing experience.
Having finished my bachelor’s degrees earlier this year, I found the ARC 25 to be the perfect opportunity to do just that.
