Notre histoire

Konstantinos Chatzis

Crew

Hi, I am Kostas, 55 years of age from Sparta, Greece.

I am an Engineering Director working for a semiconductor multinational and for the last 6 years I have been living in Cambridge, UK. My two kids, ages 21 and 23, are about to finish university, my wife Lia is a medical physicist and if all goes to plan you’ll get to meet her once we arrive in St Lucia.

I have been sailing for a bit over 15 years now. I have participated countless races (all in the Mediterranean, mind you) and ednjoy spending my vacation time sailing the Cyclades.

Sailing across the Atlantic has been on my bucket list for a long time now, I am so excited to see this materializing.

Eric Gay

Crew

My name is Eric, hailing from South Georgia, USA.

I grew up on and around the water, including time served in the US Navy.  I have now been sailing for approximately 11 years and have found my passion in the sport.  I have certifications from US Sailing up through Offshore Passage making and Celestial Navigation (though I have very little opportunity to hone the celestial nav skills).

It has been a dream for years to embark on a Transatlantic crossing, and I am looking with great excitement to get underway.

Jon Stacey

Crew

Hi, I’m Jon. Recently retired from running an accountancy practice in Devon for 36 years.

I’ve been sailing on and off for 30 years in dinghies, gaffers and yachts. Most of it has been crewing for club racing, coastal and cross channel races. I have also done a couple of Fastnets and a Lonely Rock race, the last of those on a Swan 46 with my friend James, another competitor on this boat.

I have a small gaffer and a coastal motorboat so end up doing plenty of repairs and maintenance. I have a Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper certificate as well as two Sea Survival certificates and various other courses.

Crossing an ocean has been on my bucket list for many years so I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the crew and having a fun race.

James Wilson

Crew

Hi, I’m James and I’m a 58 year old farmer from North Cornwall, England. I have a herd of beef cattle and a number of almost every other farm animal you can imagine as I also run a self-catering farm holiday business. I’ve been doing this successfully for almost 30 years!

I have some sailing experience, having sailed around Cornwall and Greece. I completed the Lonely Rock race in 2022 alongside Jon who has been a longstanding friend of mine and is also on this trip with us. We placed 4th crewing on a Swan 46. I hold my RYA Day Skippers and Off Shore Sea Survival Certificates.

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and completing the challenge of an Atlantic crossing under sail together.

Urs Burchard

Crew

Hello, I’m Urs.
I started sailing on the Baltic Sea with my parents as a child. Later, I sailed various dinghies, then keelboats, across various parts of the Baltic Sea. My dream is to explore other waters and explore new challenges. At the end of the year, I’ll be retiring from my job and have time to pursue this dream. I’m really looking forward to this adventure!

Julia Garnelo

Apprentice

From an architectural background, Julia has immersed herself in the sport through Tall Ships Races, RYA coaching, club racing, and volunteering for sailing charities. With over 2,500 nautical miles logged, she thrives in dynamic, hands-on environments. Always eager to refine her skills, take on new challenges, and continue growing as a sailor.
