We welcome guests aged 18 to mid-70s from around the world. If you have any physical limitations please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you.
From a safety perspective some basic sailing skills are necessary, though this varies depending on the event you join. Coastal regattas typically require an RYA Competent Crew course or equivalent experience gained informally. Contact us to find out which regatta or trip suits you best. We are more than happy to help all crew members reach whatever level of experience they wish to achieve.
Costs vary depending on the event you choose but we do aim to keep costs as low as possible so that everyone can take part and experience sailing as a sport. We also offer training and delivery trips as a cost-effective way to gain more experience.
There will be a professional skipper plus 9 to 11 crew members on board. Crew experience ranges from those with a basic sailing course to experienced skippers. Our crew is diverse in age, gender and nationality.
Where possible cabins are arranged by gender. On multi-day trips we distribute genders across watches so you will share with whoever is on your watch. Friends or partners may share a cabin if requested in advance. Hot bunking may occur on longer passages.
Race entry, yacht charter, mooring fees, basic training, meals at sea, lifejacket on board, and a personal locating beacon.
Flights, transfers, country clearances, meals off the boat, shore accommodation, travel insurance, and wet weather gear are not included. We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance that specifically covers sailing. Wet weather gear is not supplied but we are happy to advise on options for different budgets.
We certainly hope you will be impressed by the organisation and instruction on board. However, we can experience anything from strong winds to none at all. In strong winds simple meals on board are preferred and we are in a confined space under potentially challenging conditions. There are no passengers on board, only crew members — everyone plays an active part.
We primarily sail a 2008 First 40.7 racing vessel and a 2021 Harmony 52 which offers greater stability and comfort. Occasionally we sail on other boats — please ask if this is relevant to you.
Safety is paramount and full crew participation comes before results. We are proud to give every crew member the opportunity to take part in all roles on board, including helming. During training we spend more time with less experienced crew members to build new skills. During regattas we draw on the skills of more experienced crew while ensuring everyone remains actively involved.
Yes. We are happy to discuss your requirements and put together a tailored offer. We can provide options ranging from bareboat charter to fully skippered packages.
There is a suggested kit list for a 4–5 day race available online. Foul weather gear is not provided but we are happy to advise on suitable options.
You can book online or contact us via the contacts page. We are happy to answer any questions and discuss what experience you want to gain. Once everything is agreed we ask for a 50% deposit with the remainder due four weeks before departure.
We have Starlink satellite internet available on board. This is charged at £2 per 1GB voucher credit. We cannot guarantee consistent speeds as this depends on satellite coverage in the area.
We are a very friendly and inclusive organisation, we often have guests from 18 up to their mid 70’s and from every corner of the globe. If you have any physical limitations please let us know in advance so we can make any adjustments that would allow you to better enjoy your experience.
Generally speaking, a basic level of skill will be necessary from a safety point of view. This level will differ depending on which event you are thinking of entering, for our coastal-based regattas this can be achieved by taking an RYA Competent crew course, however, there are also many other informal ways to achieve this. Feel free to get in touch for a quick chat to discuss your level of experience and see what may be the best fit for you. We’re more than happy to work with people to get them to where they want to be.
Costs vary depending on the event you choose but we do aim to keep costs as low as possible to allow anyone to compete and enjoy this great sport. We also offer training and delivery opportunities that can be an excellent and cost-effective way to learn.
There will be a professional skipper and up to 9/11 others on board depending on the boat. The variety of experience will range from competent crew, through to those who are experienced skippers in their own right and everything in between. We are very proud to often have some of the most diverse crews assembled in terms of Age, Gender, Nationality, and many other characteristics.
When possible we try to arrange cabins based on gender and comfortability. If a sailing trip is longer than 24 hours and involves overnight sailing, we do like to spread everyone out so there are different genders on different watches. This would affect sleeping arrangements, but our skippers will always have a conversation with you regarding your comfortability. If you have booked with a friend or partner and prefer to share a cabin, we can usually accommodate this. Hot bunking may be necessary depending on the number of individuals signed up for a trip.

We do not include flights, transfers, clearance into countries, any meals eaten off the boat (usually 1 per day whilst training) , or shore-based accommodation (usually recommended for comfort but we’re happy to help those on a budget), We strongly recommend travel insurance specifically for this type of activity. Wet weather gear is not provided but there are multiple options at different cost points that we are happy to advise on.
We aim to provide a high standard of organisation and instruction on our boats. However, sailing inherently involves certain uncontrollable factors. Weather conditions can vary from strong winds to calm seas and the nature of sailing means operating in close quarters and demanding conditions. Due to these inherent challenges, regular maintenance and repairs are to be expected on board. Since our sailing trips cater to various experiences – ranging from offshore races and mile builders to transatlantic crossings – we encourage you to reach out to us directly with any questions about what to expect. It’s important to understand there are no passengers on board, only teammates.
We own a 2008 First 40.7 that has had a huge amount of resources invested in her to ensure she is a formidable racing machine whilst maintaining a sensible degree of comfort on board. In 2021 we added a harmony 52 to our fleet that provides great stability and comfort, we are currently optimiszing her setup for performance. There may be occasions when we use other boats so please do ask if it’s important to you.
We aim to be part of the race in the action, that said we are uncompromising when it comes to safety and getting everybody involved. We pride ourselves on getting every team member to perform every role on board including helming. We spend more time with those who are less experienced during training to get them used to perfecting new skills. Once the race starts the focus shifts slightly to allow the more experienced members to get something from the experience, however, we still ensure that everyone is an active member of the team and takes on every role.
It certainly is, we’d be happy to discuss your requirements and come up with a package that suits you. From bare boat charter through to skippered boats.
There is a suggested kit list for a 4-5 day race here , However, it’s worth us mentioning at this stage that we don’t provide foul weather gear.
You can book online or get in touch using the contacts page.
All boats have Starlink Satellite Internet. While the connection is generally fast, it’s not always a guarantee. We operate a voucher code system, with data charged at £2 per 1GB of credit. Please note that charges apply to the amount of GB purchased per voucher code, rather than the amount actually used. We therefore recommend starting with a smaller allowance and topping up as required.
