We are a very inclusive organisation, we often have guests from 18 up to their mid 70’s and from every corner of the globe.
Generally speaking, a basic level of skill will be necessary from a safety point of view. This level will differ depending on which event you are thinking of entering, for our coastal-based regattas this can be achieved by taking an RYA Competent crew course, however, there are also many other informal ways to achieve this. Feel free to get in touch for a quick chat to discuss your level of experience and see what may be the best fit for you. We’re more than happy to work with people to get them to where they want to be.
Costs vary depending on the event you choose but we do aim to keep costs as low as possible to allow anyone to compete and enjoy this great sport. We also offer training and delivery opportunities that can be an excellent and cost-effective way to learn.
There will be a professional skipper and up to 9/11 others on board depending on the boat. The variety of experience will range from competent crew, through to those who are experienced skippers in their own right and everything in between. We are very proud to often have some of the most diverse crews assembled in terms of Age, Gender, Nationality, and many other characteristics.

We do not include flights, transfers, clearance into countries, any meals eaten off the boat (usually 1 per day whilst training) , or shore-based accommodation (usually recommended for comfort but we’re happy to help those on a budget), We strongly recommend travel insurance specifically for this type of activity. Wet weather gear is not provided but there are multiple options at different cost points that we are happy to advise on.
We certainly hope that you’ll be impressed by the standard of organisation and instruction given on the boat, however we may experience strong winds or no wind at all, there won’t be gourmet meals prepared at sea and we will be in very close quarters in potentially demanding conditions. If you’ve raced offshore before you’ll know what to expect, if you haven’t then we are happy to hear from you and discuss the challenges you may face to ensure it is the correct fit for you. There are no passengers on board, only teammates.
We own a 2008 First 40.7 that has had a huge amount of resources invested in her to ensure she is a formidable racing machine whilst maintaining a sensible degree of comfort on board. In 2021 we added a harmony 52 to our fleet that provides great stability and comfort, we are currently optimiszing her setup for performance. There may be occasions when we use other boats so please do ask if it’s important to you.
We aim to be part of the race in the action, that said we are uncompromising when it comes to safety and getting everybody involved. We pride ourselves on getting every team member to perform every role on board including helming. We spend more time with those who are less experienced during training to get them used to perfecting new skills. Once the race starts the focus shifts slightly to allow the more experienced members to get something from the experience, however, we still ensure that everyone is an active member of the team and takes on every role.
It certainly is, we’d be happy to discuss your requirements and come up with a package that suits you. From bare boat charter through to skippered boats.
There is a suggested kit list for a 4-5 day race here , However, it’s worth us mentioning at this stage that we don’t provide foul weather gear.
